River
Running
With a major chunk of the
Himalayas in the country, India has excellent white water
potential including several rivers still awaiting first descent.
The variety of flora and fauna combined with the rich cultural
heritage and hospitable people all along the Indian Himalayas
make river trips in this region an unforgettable experience.
Most of the river running itineraries can be combined with
a trek, a wildlife safari and a cultural tour in the area.

The holy Ganga or the
Ganges is the most popular river in India for river running
due to its easy accessibility from the capital city of Delhi
and because the river has rapids with varying levels of difficulty
(Grade II to IV) that can provide the thrills and spills of
river rafting to both the novices and the experienced.
Reputed, as the most professional outfitter in river running
in the sub-continent, Snow Leopard Adventures is known for
its utmost emphasis on safety.
Snow Leopard Adventures runs its Ganga River programmes from Leopard Beach Tented Camp -- our deluxe wilderness
camp 250 km north east of New Delhi. Set in the foothills
of the Himalayas by the Ganga River amid a thick Sal forest,
Leopard Beach Tented Camp is located 16 km from the temple
town of Rishikesh made famous by the Beatles who stayed here
for a few months.
The camp is known for its excellent cuisine, efficient staff,
hygiene and an impeccable safety record. Accommodation at
the camp is in comfortable safari tents on a pristine beach
by the Ganga River.
The many activities offered in the camp include river rafting,
kayaking, trekking, mountain biking and yoga. You can choose
from our 2/3 day options from the camp or the longer 4-8 day
expeditions on the Ganga or Alaknanda rivers.
The two-day/one night trip (Delhi to Delhi) is a quick getaway
from civilisation to the lap of the Himalayas. We spend two
days running some of the most exciting rapids on the Ganga
including Three Blind Mice, Roller Coaster and Golf Course.
The three day/ two night White Water Magic trip is a more
relaxed trip with a higher put in point. This trip gives you
more time to absorb the great outdoors and participate in
other activities such as a trek in the Himalayan foothills,
kayaking or a visit to the Chilla National Park for a game
drive.
Snow Leopard Adventures
has organised a number of rafting and kayaking expeditions
for overseas paddlers from North America, Europe and Australia.
In fact, we have pioneered several demanding expeditions including
first descents in the Indian Himalayas and have conducted
over 45 training courses and expeditions for the Indian Armed
Forces.
We provide complete logistical support for any river expedition
in the Himalayas and our river gear includes imported self
bailing rafts with all accessories and twelve white water
plastic kayaks of different makes. Raft or road support is
provided by our own professionals/ vehicles and we can organise
evacuation by air in case of medical emergencies.
