Rajasthan On Horse Back
Rajasthan,
the land of colors, is known for its forts and palaces and
its people, dressed in bright coloured turbans, skirts and
"chunnies" (scarves), are perhaps the most colourful
in the world. Their history, religion, music, dance, arts
and crafts remain alive and active till date. In this programme,
we discover this colorful state on horseback.
DAY
1 In Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, transfer from the airport to deluxe hotel.
Afternoon sight seeing of New Delhi. Visit Qutab Minar, India
Gate (War Memorial), and The Lakshmi Narayan Temple and drive
past President's house. O/N at hotel.
DAY
2 Delhi
Morning sightseeing of Old Delhi. Visit the Red Fort, Jama
Mas-jid, an ancient mosque and drive past Chandani Chowk.
Also visit Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana. Evening visit the Red
Fort again for the sound and light show. Overnight at the
hotel.
DAY
3 Delhi-Agra
Early morning, drive to Agra. Afternoon visit the world famous
Taj Mahal built by the Moghul emperor, Shahjehan, to enshrine
his queen's mortal remains. Later visit the Agra Fort. Overnight
at the hotel.
DAY
4 Agra- Jaipur
Morning sightseeing of Itmad-ud-daula's tomb built by empress
Noorjehan in memory of her father. Afternoon drive to Jaipur
enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri. On arrival in Jaipur check
in to the hotel.
DAY
5 In Jaipur
Morning
sightseeing. Visit Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the
state. Ascend the hill on which the fort is situated on elephant
back. In the afternoon visit the Hawa Mahal and later visit
the Jaipur markets. Overnight at hotel.
DAY
6 Jaipur-Udaipur
Early morning flight to Udaipur. Transfer to Shikarbadi, origi-nally
the personal hunting lodge of the royal family of Udaipur.
Morning at leisure. Sightseeing in the afternoon. Overnight
at Shikarbadi.
DAY
7 Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh
After
an early breakfast drive to Kumbhalgarh. Enroute visit Eklinjgi
and Nagda. After lunch, we start our horse safari with a ride
to Kumbhalgarh fort. Overnight at hotel.
DAY
8 Kumbhalgarh-Ranakpur
After
breakfast ride down to Ranakpur through the scenic Kumbhal-garh
wild life sanctuary with its panthers, wild boar etc. Lunch
at camp. After lunch we visit the Jain temples. Overnight
in camp.
DAY
9 Ranakpur-Kotri
After
breakfast ride to Village Kotri. Enroute stop at the Mar-wari
stud farm at Barkana. After lunch at Rawala, resume our ride
to Kotri. Overnight at Kotri Castle.
DAY
10 Kotri-Hemavas
Ride
out to Hemavas, passing through a number of small villages
and settlements. Relax in deluxe tents on arrival. Rest of
the day at leisure to explore the area. Hemavas is famous
for tie and dye and printing centers. Overnight in camp.
DAY
11 Hemavas-Rohetgarh
After
breakfast, ride to Rohetgarh-- the fortified desert home of
the descendants of the 16th century Rathors. Overnight at
Hotel Rohetgarh.
DAY
12 Rohetgarh-Udaipur
After
breakfast drive to Udaipur. Overnight at Shikarbadi.
DAY
13 Udaipur-Delhi
Fly to
Delhi.
