Valley
of Flowers Trek
Frank Smythe, a famous mountaineer and explorer officially
discovered the Valley of Flowers, in
the Garhwal Himalayas in 1931.
The Valley of Flowers is reputed to be an enchanting sight `a
land ablaze with a bewildering variety of flowers fluttering
in the gentle intermittent breeze which wafts their fragrance
abroad, set amidst majestic snow clad mountains that stand in
bold relief against the skyline'.

Itinerary
Day
1: Delhi- Snow Leopard Adventures Camp
Board
the Dehradun Shatabdi Express from New Delhi Railway Station
at 0655 hrs. Breakfast on board. Arrive at Haridwar Railway
Station at 1115 hrs.
Meet, assist and transfer to Snow Leopard Adventures camp by a
Snow Leopard Representative. Camp welcome and orientation talk
by the camp manager. Post lunch, we go for a warm up trek in
the surrounding areas. The other option is to try your hands
at rappelling down a 30 ft rock face with specialized
equipment under the strict supervision of our qualified
instructor.
Evening around a merry campfire. Dinner and overnight stay at
camp.
Day
2: Joshimath/ Auli
Drive to
Joshimath (270 kms) on a mountainous road. This is a very
scenic drive along the Ganga River and later by the Alaknanda
River. Overnight at a hotel in Joshimath.
Day
3: Drive to Govindghat and trek to Ghangharia
Drive to
Govindghat at the confluence of the Laxman Ganga & the
Alaknanda rivers. Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria for 15 kms.
through dense vegetation to the base camp for the Valley of
Flowers. It is a gradual uphill trek. Overnight at
Nature Resort.
Day
4: Ghangharia-Hemkund Sahib
Trek to
Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib- a famous and revered Sikh shrine.It
is one of the holiest Sikh shrines and the highest Gurudwara
in the Himlayas. Hemkund is a bluish green lake flanked by
snow covered peaks. The 5-km trek to Hemkund is a steep climb
along the Laxman Ganga, which emanates from Hemkund. Picnic
lunch. Post lunch we trek back to camp. Overnight stay in
tents.
Day
5: Valley of Flowers
Early
morning wake up call followed by breakfast. Post breakfast we
start for the trek to the Valley of Flowers(3650-3965 mts)
with a packed lunch. The valley boasts of more than 300
species of rare wild flowers including the blue Poppy, pink
Geraniums, blue and yellow Pansies to name a few. In the
afternoon trek back to the Ghangaria camp. Overnight in
camp.
Day
6: Trek
Trek back
to Govindghat and drive back to Joshimath/Auli. Overnight at a
hotel in Joshimath.
Day
7: Drive back to Snow Leopard Adventu4res Camp
Drive
back to Snow Leopard Adventures Camp for a late lunch. Post
lunch, at leisure. Overnight at the camp.
Day
8: Shivpuri- Delhi
Return to Delhi.
