Ghandrung Ghorepani Trek

The Annapurna Region in central Nepal is the most geographically and culturally diverse region for trekking. The area boasts of a variety of diverse cultures, tribes and castes including the Brahmins, the Chettris, the Newars, the Gurungs, the Magars, Manangis and the Tibetans. This area has sub-tropical lowlands, valleys, forests of bamboo, oak and rhododendron, alpine meadows, windswept desert plateaus and the towering Annapurna Mountains. This area has the world's deepest river gorge, Kali Gandaki, lying some 6900 metres (22,563 ft.) that lies below Annapurna I , world's eighth highest mountain) and the Fishtail mountain. The area is home to over 440 species of birds and animals like the marten, deer, langur and the elusive snow leopard.

Itinerary

Day 01: KATHMANU - POKHARA - POTHANA

Transfer to airport and fly to Pokhara. Upon arrival, met by Trek Leader and drive to Phedi (25 minutes) - the trek starting point. Meet Sherpa team, pack all trekking gear and personal equipment to commence trek. The trek starts with a half an hour steep ascent on stone steps through forests to a ridge with a tea house.

Trek to Pothana

In the evening the Sherpa team will entertain the guests with songs and dances. After a hearty dinner, we retire for the night in our spacious and comfortable tents with sleeping bags, extra thick mattresses and pillows at Pothana.

Day 02: Trek to Landrung village

Wake up call early in the morning to view the sunrise while tea/coffee is served. After breakfast, get back on the trekking trail passing through dense rhododendron forest.

The well-defined trail takes you high above the left bank of the Mardi River to the paddy fields of Landrung Villag, where the camp is set up for the night. 

Day 04: Trek to Ghandrung

After breakfast, we pass through the village and get on the trail. The day's trek starts with a steep descent for about 40 minutes. The Ghandrung campsite has an unobstructed view of the Annapurna range and the Fish Tail Mountain.

Dinner and overnight in tents at Ghandrung.

Day 05: Trek to Chomrong

Start the day's trek by descending for about 20 minutes to the bottom of the valley. Cross a small bridge and trek. There are a few settlements en route 

Arrive Chomrong - the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. It is a very steep ascent to the top of the ridge which has a tea house. Upon arrival at the ridge, a 10 minute walk on a gentle undulating trail through forests brings us to Chomrong. The views of the Annapurna Range is closest from here than anywhere on this trail.

Dinner and Overnight at Camp.

Day 05: Trek to Tadapani

Wake up to the magnificent views of the mighty Annapurna range to the north. After breakfast, start trek to Tadapani

Climb steadily to Tadapani, with a row of tea houses and lodges on a ridge. We set up camp and in the evening guests will be entertained by the Sherpa team.

Day 06: Trek to Ghorepani

After breakfast start trek to Ghorepani. Overnight at Ghorepani Camp.

Day 07:  Trek to Tirkhedhunga

A three hour trek brings us to Tirkhedhunga. This is the last night on the trek and a special farewell dinner and dance program will be organized by the Sherpa Team.

Day 08: Trek to Nayapul/Drive to Pokhana & Fly to Kathmondu

After breakfast, descend gently down to the banks of the Bhurgundi river and follow the trail along the river for three hours to Birethanti. Lunch. There is a check post where all trekkers must have their permits checked and logged. After lunch, cross the suspension bridge and walk a further 20 minutes to arrive at Nayapul.

Bid farewell to the trekking staff and porters and board the waiting vehicles for the 1 ½ hour drive back to Pokhara airport in time to connect the late afternoon flight back to Kathmandu.

Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel
